Lifestyle: Tigers Milk Restaurant Review

It has been a couple of years since I decided to become a vegetarian. If you follow me on Instagram, then you would have seen my posts about my favourite restaurants and cafes. Whilst at lunch with a friend I was questioned as to why I do not have a "Veg series" on my blog. This sparked an idea to create a series on my blog dedicated to my love for vegetarian food which I hope you will enjoy. My first blog post is about my experience at Tiger's Milk Restaurant.

Tiger's Milk is a restaurant/bar with stores worldwide. They offer meals for Breakfast, Lunch, and Supper together with drinks. It is located at the revamped Suncoast Casino and Entertainment World. The new food hub has a number of new restaurants catering to all cuisines and is home to the first Tigers Milk restaurant in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. At the entrance of the restaurant, there is a picturesque lounge area and as you can see I could not resist a quick picture.

I visited Tiger's Milk for lunch and I was really impressed with their variety of both vegetarian and vegan options these included but not limited to: -

1. Starters:  Amazeballs (cheeseballs) and Party Parcels (jalapeno poppers)
2. Tex-Mex: Nachos and Veggie tacos
3. Salads: Feta and avocado; and Halloumi
4. Pizza: Bianca; Margherita; Vegetarian; and Plant Power
5. Burgers: The Hugger (mushroom patty) and The Pretender (lentil and bean patty)
6. Sides: potato/zucchini/sweet potato fries; roasted butternut and feta; corn on the cob and salad

A full menu can be viewed, here.
The food arrived shortly thereafter, or what seemed like a quick turn-around time. We were seated on their balcony which gave a clear view of the beautiful Suncoast beach area. This really adds to the chilled ambiance that Tigers Milk has created.

I ordered a cappuccino and the veggie taco because I was intrigued by the inclusion of jackfruit as this is not a common taco ingredient unless in a ''pulled-jack'' texture. The cappuccino was creamy and well-caffeinated with a mild roast blend. There were two portions of the tacos in a softshell. The filling consisted of chargrilled shaved corn, pulled jackfruit, avo, jalapeƱos, pico de gallo, sour cream, refried beans, and lettuce. Each ingredient complemented one another and I thoroughly enjoyed the inclusion of jackfruit. Based on the texture and hint of brine I think it is canned jackfruit so the taste is not as intense as fresh jackfruit that I have tried.

Overall, I found the food really refreshing and enjoyable. The ingredients are fresh and are well prepared and served. The overall ambiance of the ocean view and outdoor seating really makes it an enjoyable place to destress after work or over the weekend with friends and family. I am really keen to try their burgers soon so I look forward to my next visit. If you have visited Tigers Milk and have any food recommendations please let me know in the comments below.

With love,
Riv
